Hot water bottles, ginger tea, painkillers – if you’ve tried all the remedies and nothing helps, we have some good news for you. There’s a new remedy for menstrual cramps on the block, and we were astonished when we found out that it was weed pills!
Here’s what you need to know about them.
1. The pills contain only three ingredients.
The pills are manufactured by a company called Foria and they contain cocoa butter, THC and CBD. THC and CBD are both active cannaboid compounds extracted from cannabis.
2. All the ingredients in the pills are organic.
As all the three ingredients are organic and plant-based, the pills are being touted as safe, however whether or not they really are remains to be seen.
3. Unlike painkillers, they are not to be taken orally.
The pills are suppositories, which means they have to be inserted directly into the vagina to provide relief. They can be used with pads or tampons. However, wearing at least a panty liner is recommended, as the cocoa butter could melt and cause some discharge.
4. No, you will not get high if you take them.
According to the company, the pills have been “carefully crafted to maximize the muscle relaxing and pain relieving properties of cannabis without a psychotropic (“high”) effect.”
5. As of now, they’re only available in California and Colorado.
You need a Medical Marijuana card or physician’s recommendation letter to buy them.
